How to Use SEO to Leverage the Performance of Other Marketing Methods

What is SEO? You might question me like “dude, SEO stands for ‘Search Engine Optimization’”, but do you know what information on the search engine you can optimize? If you have already known it, you are welcome to skip this blog, otherwise, just keep reading bro!

When we talk about SEO, we are always talking about Google ranking. Right? I believe at least half of marketers or business owners have this kind of understanding of SEO in their mind? Is it wrong? No, but it is just a small part of the result of doing SEO?

Today I am going to give a new definition of SEO. If you don’t agree, you are welcome to comment below and let me know what is your definition of SEO.

“SEO is a way to organize all the searchable information related to your business on the search engine. Public release, Influencer marketing, Content marketing are all could be leverage by doing SEO. SEO is not only ranking but also the right arm of other marketing channels. -Roy Chen”

If you are doing a public release, influencer marketing or content marketing but you don’t know SEO, you would be better to read this blog because you are missing tons of opportunities.

Let us break down the sentence and explain the reasons back of this statement.

Public Release:

When you outsource PR work to some agencies, what would you got in the end? A bunch of screenshots and a list of URLs. Would they give you a list of URLs with corresponding keywords and ranks? Probably not, right? But this is the way to differentiate bad, average or awesome PR agencies. This is why some agencies would only charge you thousands of dollars for doing 20 PRs while some of them would charge you six figures for doing only 5 PRs.

Think about it!

We are doing PR is not only for now or the next a couple months and then its impact disappear forever! We are doing PR should be more for the future and the impact should be existing as long as possible, at least 1year.

In other words, I literally don’t care how many people read the stuff on 20 platforms, because I know all of them will be a piece of shit after one or two weeks.

The only thing I do care are:

  1. Are they searchable on Google?
  2. The number of keywords of the contents
  3. How long they can stay on the first page?

Influencer marketing:

Have you ever think about the relationship between SEO and influencer marketing? Here is a truth that some keywords always could lead to a bunch of YouTube videos in the search result. In other words, searchers are looking for a tutorial video. If you pay like 5 figure to hire a YouTuber with 2 million followers to make a video about your business, while the video is not searchable on Google or even on YouTube, the size of targeting audience is limited within 2 million. After a week, there are no more views for that specific YouTube video. On the other hand, if the video made by YouTube influencer is searchable on Google, not only his current followers can watch the video but also other targeting searchers. After a week, two weeks…, the views of that YouTube video will be still increasing. Paying the same amount of money while the impact of the same video is way bigger.

Takeaway: Doing influencer marketing is not only for now or a week, combine it with SEO, but the influence of YouTube video published by YouTube influencers would also be lasting a very long time.Yeah, for the future if we do so.

Content marketing:

I bet you know the value of content marketing to the SEO. The impact of content marketing could be leverage by doing SEO is so obvious. More content (most of the time it exists as blog posts) on the websites could help Google bots and other search engine bots to understand your website and business better. More than that, if you some blogs are searchable on Google, a lot of traffics would go to your site, hopefully.

The problem lots of content marketers are making is underestimating its power. People are like”yeah let’s make a blog, I believe people would love it”. Or like let’s send this email or post some pictures on FB or whatever. What they missed?

They are missing the power created by the chemical reaction between different content.

The funny thing is that lots of ‘content marketer’ are called themselves as ‘content marketer or content strategies’, but actually they are just writer or someone who are good at writing stuff. The truth is that every single piece of content should play different roles for a successful business. It is similar as playing basketball, different position of players should be doing different shit but working together on the court.

Remember! Making a plan before publishing and understanding the functions of each of them are the keys to have a successful content marketing, otherwise, even though you are doing SEO for every content you created, the result will be disappointing, because there is no teamwork between different content.

Conclusion:

Chinese elders always say” 365 different jobs. You would be successful if you are specializing on only one of the jobs, ”. The interesting is that everything on the earth is somewhat correlated. Some correlations are weak while some of them are strong. This is probably why there is a thing called ‘confident level’.

Similar concepts could be applied to digital marketing. When SEO, PRs, Content Marketing, Paid ads or any other marketing methods working together, the result they create together will be beyond your imagination.
