The matter of SEO for your business

I guess most of the companies or business owners know SEO and are willing to spend time &money to get a shinning spot on Google.

Is it really worth? What would happen if you spend this part of the money on other channels like search ads? Or even on developing the product, expanding a product line, etc.

So, today, I want to share my personal opinions on the role of SEO and helping you to have a better understanding of SEO. If you have any question or confusions, just leave comments below. I’d love to discuss SEO with you~ I am not always right~

I personally think SEO is a good way to approach people before the purchase and after the purchase. In other words, SEO could deal with all the targeting audience except people who are ready to make a purchase, but, but, but SEO somehow could influence people’s purchase behavior.

Three points out of the above statement:

  1. SEO is not perfectly fitting for targeting people who are ready to purchase.
  2. SEO is good for targeting people before they purchase
  3. SEO is good for targeting people after they purchase

A. SEO is not perfectly fitting for targeting people who are ready to purchase.

  1. There are so many channels out there, people literally could buy your product from tons of other ways not only from your owned website.
  2. Running ads is targeting on Google specifically Google Search Ads. Based on the keywords to evaluate the readiness of the searchers. Everything is under your control, which is so good compared to SEO. Based on the data provided by Google, you are able to optimize your ads and you literally know how to optimize your ads.
  3. To be honest, ads just looks better compared to the organic result. Isn’t it? I don’t know if everyone has a similar experience to me. When I do some research, I would only click organic result instead of ads, on the opposite, if I want to buy something, I definitely will read all the ads and choose those makes me feel ‘BingGo’
  4. For the transactional search queries, it is so tough to get the first position on Google but paid ads could help you to get that spot easily. It is just not cost effective for doing SEO for targeting transactional search queries.

B. SEO is good for targeting people before they purchase

The biggest benefits of doing SEO is reaching out your targeting audience for free. You don’t need to worry about the budget. Or you don’t need to stare at the screen to monitor the campaigns. Traffics just get into your websites constantly. Wow! What a beautiful day!

  1. What customer do before they make the purchase? They probably will compare products between difference sellers, brands or even products substitutes. What if they see a blog titled “Best xxx in 2019”. Annnd, your product is mentioned in this article. Then if they see your ads on FB, on Ins, on the google search result. Boom!
  2. You gonna remember this, your blog should be focusing on readers or your targeting audiences instead of your product, but your blog has to be relevant to your product (underlined!). For this reason, sometimes you could widen your blog topics to reach a wide range of people. For example, you have a company selling car accessories, I would suggest your blog topics could be focusing on car maintenance or the latest car models introduction, whatever, anything relates to the car because the readers are pretty much sharing the same characteristic which is car owners or car lovers.
  3. SEO might influence people’s purchase behavior. SEO could drive brand awareness (I personally don’t like saying that, I prefer to say building brand authority instead of driving brand awareness). A high-quality content, a clear and organized website and fast-loading website just make your brand professional. And gradually, it helps to build brand authority. Eventually, it somewhat makes people more likely to trust your products rather than other competitors.

C. SEO is good for targeting people after they purchase

If you are suffering a high return rate, or you know your product is kind of complicated for the new users to use. You probably need SEO to answer the questions asked by the new users through the internet. If you search “how to use emojis on iPhone x”, you will find a blog published by Apple called “Use Animoji on your iPhone X and iPad Pro”. When a new feature or a new product comes out, it is critical to teach your customer how to use it rather than sell it and then forget it.

Alright, that’s all I want to share in this blog. Hoping now you have a better understanding of the role SEO. If you have questions, please leave a comment below. I’d love to chat with you more about SEO!
